Douglas-based Netcetera, Europe's leading web hosting service provider, is to open the Isle of Man's largest data centre facility in the Ballasalla Freeport, near Ronaldsway Airport.

LONDON (AFX) - IX Europe PLC has acquired its fourth datacentre in Zurich, located within two kilometres of the existing Zurich1 and Zurich2 datacentres.

Data center design expert Steven Harris of the Skokie, Ill.-based consulting firm Forsythe Technology Inc., says the time is ripe for data center turnover as many companies hit a tipping point with aging facilities. Harris says rip and replace is less risky than renovating operational data centers.

IX Europe, the recently AIM-floated co-location hosting player, announced last week that its monthly recurring revenues have increased from £2m in December 2005 to £2.5m. The company also announced a £15m, ten-year contract with one of the "Big Four" multi-disciplinary networks, and its intention to further expand through acquisitions and by investing into new co-location centres in London and Paris, after its recent acquisition of a Munich-based centre in April.

Routing systems provider Internap announced on Friday that it has plans to expand its Boston and New York data center facilities. The company plans to complete both build-outs before the end of the year
